Breakout Rules

Controls

  • ← / → or Mouse — move the paddle
  • Space or Click — launch the ball / release from sticky paddle
  • P — pause / resume
  • Drag left or right to move your paddle
  • Tap LAUNCH to launch the ball or release from a sticky paddle

Powerups

Break a glowing brick to drop a powerup. Catch it with your paddle to activate it.

Extra Ball
Extra Ball — Spawns a second ball into play. Both balls must be lost before a life is deducted.
Wide Paddle
Wide Paddle — Expands your paddle for 15 seconds, making it easier to keep the ball in play.
Narrow Paddle
Narrow Paddle — Shrinks your paddle for 15 seconds. Try to avoid it!
Sticky Paddle
Sticky Paddle — The ball sticks to your paddle on contact. Reposition, then tap or release to shoot.
Cannon
Cannon — Your paddle fires bullets upward for 10 seconds. Bullets destroy any brick they hit.
Fireball
Fireball — The ball burns through bricks without bouncing for 5 seconds, clearing entire columns.
Extra Life
Extra Life — Grants one additional life, up to the maximum of 5.

Bricks

Gold brick
Gold — Takes 2 hits to destroy. Worth 15 points per hit. Shows a crack after the first hit.
Steel brick
Steel — Indestructible. The ball bounces off normally. Steel bricks are cleared automatically when the level is completed.
Bomb brick
Bomb — One hit destroys it and triggers a chain explosion that takes out all 8 neighbouring bricks simultaneously, including steel bricks.

About Breakout

Breakout is a classic arcade brick-breaker game. Control your paddle to bounce the ball and smash all the bricks to clear each level. Don't let the ball fall past your paddle!

Game failed to load

The primary script that runs our games seems to not have loaded, somehow.

This is in despite of the fact other scripts seem to have loaded up just fine.
