Schiffe versenken (das du vielleicht auch unter dem Namen Battleship kennst) ist ursprünglich ein einfaches Spiel für Papier und Stift. Du spielst gegen einen Gegner und beide haben ein Blatt Papier mit zwei 10x10 Gittern vor sich: ein Gitter für die eigenen Schiffe und eines für die gegnerischen Schiffe, die du versenken musst. Du beginnst damit, deine Schiffe auf deinem Gitter anzuordnen. Du hast folgende Schiffe:

Die Schiffe dürfen sich auf dem Gitter nicht berühren, nicht einmal diagonal, es muss immer mindestens ein freies Feld zwischen den Schiffen sein. Ansonsten kannst du sie anordnen, wie du möchtest. Du kannst entweder die standardmäßige zufällige Platzierung übernehmen, auf "Zufällig" klicken, um eine andere zufällige Platzierung zu erhalten oder du kannst die Schiffe ziehen und auf sie klicken, um sie zu drehen und so eine eigene Aufstellung erstellen.
Ich weiß, dass viele Versionen des Spiels es erlauben, dass sich Schiffe berühren, aber das ist hier nicht erlaubt. Ich denke, es macht das Spiel viel interessanter, wenn es nicht erlaubt ist, da das Versenken eines großen Schiffes dir dann einen größeren Vorteil verschafft.
Die Spieler wechseln sich ab, indem sie einen Schuss auf das Gitter ankündigen, z.B. wird ein Spieler "E5" sagen und sein Gegner wird dann entweder "Treffer" sagen, wenn dort ein Schiff ist, oder "Fehlschuss", wenn es leer ist. Wenn du ein Schiff triffst, darfst du erneut schießen. Du markierst Treffer und Fehlschüsse und versuchst, als Erster alle Schiffe des Gegners zu versenken. Der erste Spieler, der alle Schiffe seines Gegners versenkt, gewinnt das Spiel.
Es gibt viele Varianten des Spiels mit unterschiedlichen Schiffen und Namen (Battleship, Sea Battle), aber wir haben die Version gewählt, die ich selbst in Island gespielt habe. Der Name "Sea Battle" ist übrigens eine direkte Übersetzung dessen, was das Spiel auf Isländisch heißt ("Sjóorrusta").
