A chain of 7 words is hidden. Each pair of neighbouring words forms a compound word or common phrase — for example "house" + "party" or "note" + "book". You are shown the first and last words plus the first letter of the adjacent words.

Each word is worth 50 points if guessed on the first try. Every wrong guess deducts 10 points.
Word chain puzzles have a long history as a parlour game and newspaper feature. This version was inspired by Wordgy, which popularised the compound-word chain format for casual online play.
The American game show Chain Reaction ran across several incarnations on NBC and GSN, where contestants raced to fill in the missing words of a chain — the same core challenge you'll find here.
Play as many rounds as you like and aim for a perfect score: 50 points per word with no wrong guesses.
