Sea Battle (znana także pod nazwą Battleship) to pierwotnie prosta gra na papierze i ołówek. Grasz przeciwko przeciwnikowi — obaj macie kartkę z dwiema siatkami 10x10: jedną dla własnych statków i jedną dla statków przeciwnika, które próbujecie odnaleźć. Zaczynasz od rozmieszczenia swoich statków na swojej siatce. Statki, którymi dysponujesz, to:

Statki nie mogą stać obok siebie na planszy, nawet po przekątnej — zawsze musi być przynajmniej jedno pole między statkami. Poza tym możesz ustawić je dowolnie. Możesz przyjąć domyślne losowe rozmieszczenie, kliknąć przycisk "Losuj", aby otrzymać inne losowe rozmieszczenie, albo przeciągać statki po planszy i klikać je, aby je obrócić i uzyskać całkowicie niestandardowe ustawienie.
Wiem, że w wielu wersjach gry statki mogą stać obok siebie, ale tutaj nie jest to dozwolone. Uważam, że gra jest przez to znacznie ciekawsza, ponieważ posiadanie dużego statku daje wtedy większą przewagę.
Gracze na przemian zgłaszają strzały na planszy, np. gracz powie "E5", a przeciwnik odpowie "trafiony" jeśli trafił coś na E5 lub "pudło" jeśli chybił. Jeśli trafisz statek, możesz strzelać ponownie. Oznaczasz pola jako trafione lub nietrafione i starasz się jako pierwszy zatopić wszystkie statki przeciwnika. Gracz, który zatopi wszystkie statki przeciwnika, wygrywa grę.
Istnieje wiele wariantów gry z różnymi statkami i nazwami (Battleship, Broadsides), ale wybraliśmy wersję, w którą sam grałem na Islandii. Nazwa "Sea Battle" jest bezpośrednim tłumaczeniem tego, jak gra nazywa się po islandzku ("Sjóorrusta").
